Calendar iCal options
You can add DUSAC calendar events to your own calendar.
There are two ways you can do this:
Download events file, and upload to calendar:
In any page that has an iCal icon (looks like this:
), click the icon. The events will download as a .ics file.
Which events are downloaded depends on which page you are in:
- Front page (upcoming events list) - downloads events for current month
- Calendar month view page - downloads events for displayed month
- Calendar year view page - downloads events for displayed year
Once you have the .ics file, upload it to your chosen calendar application (Google calendar, Outlook etc)
Load events via URL:
In Outlook, select 'Tools', then 'Account settings', then 'Internet calendars', then 'New'. Type in a calendar URL such as:
- http://dusac.org/calendar/*/ical - will load current month's events
- http://dusac.org/calendar/2010-06/ical - will load June 2011's events
- http://dusac.org/calendar/2011/ical - will load all events for 2011
In Google calendar, select option to add calendar by URL, and type in a URL as above
[NB - see known problems below relating to Google calendar]
Known problems:
Google calendar seems to store a cached copy of our calendar, and sometimes doesn't update it for days or weeks. Outlook doesn't have this problem, and other web-based applications don'e either. However, to be absolutely sure you're looking at the latest information, check the calendar page on dusac.org itself.
A problem with the calendar software used caused events in daylight saving months to appear one day early in the iCal outputs. I've hacked a solution together that seems to work OK, but do check that events in your calendar application match up with those on the calendar at dusac.org/calendar. Also note that the start time for all-day events in the iCal outputs is arbitrary.
