Logins - double log-in problem fixed

You may have noticed a strange problem when logging in, where you were asked to log in again despite just having done so. This is because the site could be accessed at both www.dusac.org and at dusac.org, but logging in to one didn't log you in to the other. This is now fixed; www.dusac.org will always redirect you to dusac.org so you only ever have to log in once.

Site editing fixed & open to all

One of the joys of running this website is finding that something you've set up and got working then mysteriously stops when you turn your back.

Today it was image uploading - described on our site how-to page - and page editing, which I'd enabled for all dusac site members only for it to turn itself off. Both of these are now back, so you should find that once you've logged in you can edit almost all site pages, including uploading pictures and embedding youtube videos.

Dive logging & e-mail targeting

Dive logging:

We've brought back dive logging via the website. To send your dive details to the DO, you can now log in and go to:

Fill out the form for each dive for each buddy pair (or three) and click submit. You can view and edit your submitted dives by going back to the form.

Calendar events - filtering by dive grade; New text editor for site pages

Calendar events

To make it easier to see which dives and courses are open to you, I've added dive grades to calendar events, and allowed filtering of events by grade.

Events can be graded as:

Logging in to dusac.org via Facebook

Keywords

Previously, I made it possible to log in using either your user ID or your e-mail address. Now, I've let you log in using your Facebook account.

Click the 'Facebook Connect' button (left hand side, under the normal log-in area and captioned 'Sign in using Facebook'.

If setting up for the first time, you'll have to log in to your Facebook account in a pop-up window, then click to let the 'dusac.org' application connect to your Facebook account. You'll then have to put in your dusac.org account user name / e-mail address and password - and that's it!

Return of the forums

Keywords

We've brought back forums on the site for a couple of purposes:

1) discussion of when & how to organise open water diving for our Oct 2011 trainees (forum here)

2) organising dive trips after the announcements & lists have gone out on the club mailing list (forum here)

DUSAC e-mail & phone directory

Keywords

To make it easier to get in touch with other DUSAC members, I've made a directory of registered dusac.org users along with their e-mail addresses and phone numbers, where provided. This can only be viewed by logged-in users (i.e. DUSAC members) - no-one else can see it.

Log-ins made easier

Having to remember a host of user ids for different sites is a pain, and - as the site log shows - many of you have found logging in a frustrating experience. Now, though, you can log in with your e-mail address instead.

dusac.org - every little helps.

Great DUSAC photos by Donata

Donata's been doing a brilliant job posting up photos of dive trips from this summer. The vis out Wesht looks amazing, and there are lots of great shots of strange beasts. Take a look in the gallery. Thanks Donata!

Still twittering

Well it worked (http://twitter.com/trinitydiving), but we got two tweets for the price of one. Now, after some more mucking about with the works, has it been fixed proper?
